According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, currently four Vande Bharat trains are plying over Western Railway, viz. Mumbai – Gandhinagar Capital, Ahmedabad – Jamnagar, Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) – Jodhpur & Indore – Bhopal – Nagpur. The Vande Bharat trains have redefined rail travel and have become an instant hit amongst the passengers. The passengers have appreciated the comfort level of the Vande Bharat trains, the plush interiors, the variety of healthy & delicious food served and the reduced travel time as compared to other trains. They have equated the journey by Vande Bharat trains as that of travelling by aircraft with less hassles of check-in & more economical pricing.
Shri Thakur stated that the Vande Bharat trains plying over WR connects the very essence of our diverse and culturally rich nation. The Vande Bharat Express trains stands as a testimony for economic unity, providing swift and efficient connectivity to major business hubs such as Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad as well as industrial towns of Vapi, Valsad, Jamnagar, Sanand, Nagpur. It’s a catalyst for business growth, encouraging the flow of trade & commerce across the country. Passengers can enjoy breathtaking scenic views enroute. These trains are also a gateway to incredible adventures and profound spiritual journeys. It connects cherished tourist destinations such as Jodhpur, Abu Road and religious places like Ujjain, Indore, Sabarmati, Palanpur.
Giving more details, Shri Thakur stated that WR’s Mumbai – Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express was the third Vande Bharat Express in the country which was introduced on 30th September, 2022. It connects the state capitals of Mumbai & Gujarat with halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara & Ahmedabad, covering seven districts enroute. This train has been an instant hit amongst the passengers having an average occupancy of more than 130%. This train is in great demand amongst all the age groups, especially with the age group of 31 to 45 years which constitute more than 33% of the passengers, followed by age group of 46 to 60 yrs which is more than 25% while age group of 15 to 30 yrs comes close by 24%. Senior Citizens comprises of around 14%. Also, women passengers are showing their maximum preference to Vande Bharat trains due to the ease of travelling associated with the train. Similarly, Ahmedabad – Jamnagar, Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) – Jodhpur & Indore – Nagpur Vande Bharat trains of WR are also garnering good response from the youth, business travellers, tourists falling in the age group of 25 to 45 yrs. These Vande Bharat trains offers the unique experience of speedy, comfortable and stylish travel like airlines combined with the joy of train travel which proves its reasonably high occupancy.
